“I spent a lot of time planning our wedding; the last year leading up to the wedding I spent almost everyday planning and researching for the big day. Because we chose to make everything ourselves, including the invitations and all the decor, a lot of time had to go into the planning,” explains recently married Tearyn of her Tamworth, NH wedding. “Our family and friends put a lot of time into helping us create all the details that went into the wedding as well. I really don’t know what we would have done without all their help; they were all so amazing!”
The White Mountain region wedding exuded charm and a rustic décor. In fact, when asked what the wedding theme/décor was, Tearyn had to think a moment before replying, “It’s hard to come up with what exactly the theme was. I had to think about this question for a while! I would have to say rustic garden party, if that’s even a theme. This is the concept I kept thinking of during the planning process.”
In keeping with the spring/early summer atmosphere, the wedding colors were light peach and mint. The ceremony and reception were held at the same location, Jamie’s parents’ house in South Tamworth, NH.
“All the decor for the wedding was done by myself, Jamie, our parents as well as friends and family,” Tearyn says. “This was very much a DIY wedding and we were so incredibly lucky to have the most amazing friends and family who helped make our wedding as wonderful and beautiful as it was and helped make all of our visions come to life.”
If you plan to handle many of the aspects of your wedding, Tearyn says you must be very organized. “Looking back on all the planning and the wedding day itself I think the biggest thing that helped us keep the stress level down and what I would recommend for brides to be would be to plan as early as you can and keep organized.
“I spent a lot of time at the beginning of our engagement looking through wedding magazines and on Pinterest. This is really where we got all our ideas for the wedding theme and decor. Pinterest is wonderful! I found that planning early really was a major help in our wedding, especially because everything was pretty much made by hand. Because we planned early we were able to get everything made that we wanted to, which took a lot of time, as well as book the vendors we really wanted. Wedding planning can be extremely overwhelming and keeping organized really helped eliminate some of this stress. I used wedding planning websites as well as a lot of notebooks and folders to make sure all the wedding information was there and easy to find when I needed it.”
